Nearly 600 polar bears accumulate on a Russian island due to lack of Arctic ice
Summary:
Passengers on a tourist ship were astonished as they passed the coast of Wrangel Island in Chukotka, Russia, because there were approximately 200 polar bears. Experts estimate that in Wrangel nearly 600 polar bears accumulate this year, more than twice as many as two decades ago, and live one month longer on the island than they did then. They claim that it is because the ice melts earlier and the ice-free period is longer.

Analysis comment:
As I have read in the article, climate change is causing a reduction in the frozen surface area in Arctic ocean waters and that is why bears move to the islands, dealing with scarce food available and endangering the region's human populations. They also have to modify much of their feeding behaviour because of that; when the tourists surprised the polar bears, they were eating the remains of a whale
I think we're partly to blame for climate change. For example, industrial activity releases a huge amount of greenhouse gases that, once in the atmosphere, damage the ozone layer and expose the Earth directly to the sun's rays. Furthermore, the massive burning of fuels such as coal, oil or gas (or derivatives) by means of transport, deforestation of forests (it increases the concentration of CO2), high waste production and the use of fertilizers, damage the planet too.
In conclusion and from my point of view, this is so sad and nobody seems to be aware of what we are causing. So we can all help the planet and all the species that inhabit it, such as polar bears, only by doing small things like taking the bus, so the amount of CO2 is a little lower.
