Cryptozoology
Cryptozoology is a discipline whose purpose is the search for supposed animal species unknown to science. Cryptozoology aims to prove the existence of entities from the folklore record, like Bigfoot or chupacabras as well as animals otherwise considered extinct. Cryptozoologists names these entities as cryptids because it doesn’t follow the scientific method
Criptozoological research is interdisciplinary because it uses zoology, but also paleontology, anatomy, ecology, psychology ...
Arguments in favor
Cryptozoology is objective, and is based on a series of facts that no one can argue. For example:
- The animal unit of our planet isn’t complete.
- At present, new species are discovered for science.
Criticisms to cryptozoology
- Some criptozoologists modify the characteristics of mythological or legendary beings to look like extinct animal traits and give credibility to this animals.
- Cryptozoologists have never discovered a "cryptide" or found scientifically evidence of their existence.
- Cryptozoology would fail using the scientific method.
In the picture, there are many species that according cryptozoologists would have existed in North America. Some of the animals that appear in the image are known due to books, documentaries, news ... Others are only known for cryptozoologists.
I think that cryptides don't exist because we haven't got any information or any evidence abuot them, and a part from that, cryptozoology doesn't use the scientific method.
In this other photo, there is an enormous octopus called Kraken. If this animal had existed, science would have evidences or information about this.
